Taiwan-born, New Zealand-raised, UK-trained pianist Amy Chang is a 2022-23 Britten-Pears Young Artist and a 2022-24 Dutch National Opera Studio Répétiteur. An alumna of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (MMus Repetiteurship) and the University of Auckland (MMus(Hons) Vocal Accompaniment, PGDipMus Collaborative Piano and Voice, BMus Classical Piano and Voice Performance), Amy has worked as répétiteur and vocal coach at both institutions upon graduation, and with If Opera (2022), Byre Opera (2022), Edinburgh Studio Opera (2021-22), Mahogany Opera (2022), and British Youth Opera (2020/21), on productions including La Rondine, Il Segreto di Susanna, Rita, Dido and Aeneas, Pelléas et Mélisande, Flight, Hänsel und Gretel, L’Occasione fa il ladro, Giulio Cesare, Orpheus in the Underworld, Dialogues des Carmélites, and Die Dreigroschenoper. On the concert and competition platform, Amy’s performances and accolades include the Ye Cronies Opera Prize with winner Rosalind Dobson, Jack Donnelly Memorial Mozart Singing Competition Semi-Finals and a lunchtime concert at the Wellington Church of Glasgow with Jonathan Forbes Kennedy, Rodney Gibson Early Music Prize with Emily Hodkinson at the 2021 Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition, winning the 2021 Elgar/Spedding Memorial Lieder Prize with James Quilligan, 2020 Governor’s Recital Prize in Singing with finalist Timothy Edmundson, and 2020 Norma Grieg French Song Prize with finalist Tamsin Birch.
